Let’s Get Technical…

E-Commerce photos differ from the “Artistic” shots you might see in magazines and other print or online media. The purpose of E-Commerce photos is to show potential buyers EXACTLY what they will be getting when they click on the “BUY NOW” button. The most effective E-Commerce photos are shown against a white background and are comprised of several different views: Front, Side, Back, Top, Bottom, Slight Angle and at least one “Lifestyle” or “In use” view.

Depending on the product, some of these views may not be necessary, but the object is to have as many views as possible to give your customers a clear picture (pardon the pun) of the entire product. There is also another, more important reason for including as many views as possible: Customer Engagement. The more pictures you have, the longer each customer will spend reviewing your product. This engagement is key to most buyers’ decision process. People are much more likely to buy a product that has seven or eight pictures than a product that has only one or two photos.

We typically recommend 5-7 different views of each product and we estimate our prices based on the amount of time it will take to image all of your products with the desired number of shots.

After the shoot, we upload ALL of the pictures in Low Resolution Previews for you to review and select the final images. We then lightly retouch the images, remove the background (if necessary to achieve a true white background) and upload the final images to the specifications of your desired online needs.

The Future of E-Commerce Product Photography: Trends to Watch Out For

E-commerce has been rapidly growing in recent years, and the importance of product photography cannot be understated. High-quality product photography is essential for any e-commerce business looking to stand out in a crowded online marketplace. As technology continues to evolve, so too does the world of e-commerce product photography. In this blog post, we will explore some of the emerging trends that are shaping the future of e-commerce product photography.

360-Degree Product Photography

One trend that has been gaining popularity in recent years is 360-degree product photography. This technique allows customers to see a product from all angles, giving them a better understanding of its features and quality. 360-degree product photography is achieved by taking multiple photos of a product from different angles and stitching them together to create a seamless, interactive image. With the rise of virtual reality and augmented reality, 360-degree product photography is likely to become even more important in the future.

Interactive Product Photography

Interactive product photography takes 360-degree photography to the next level. Instead of simply rotating the product, interactive photography allows customers to interact with the product in a variety of ways. For example, they may be able to zoom in on specific details or click on hotspots to learn more about different features. Interactive product photography is especially useful for complex products such as electronics or machinery.

Lifestyle Product Photography

Another trend that is becoming increasingly popular is lifestyle product photography. This technique involves placing the product in a real-life setting to give customers a sense of how it can be used in their everyday lives. For example, a clothing brand may show models wearing their clothes in various real-life situations such as hiking, dining out, or working in an office. Lifestyle product photography can be especially effective for brands that want to create an emotional connection with their customers.

AI-Driven Product Photography

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming many industries, and e-commerce product photography is no exception. AI-driven product photography can automatically generate high-quality product images, eliminating the need for human intervention. For example, AI algorithms can automatically adjust lighting, background, and other factors to produce the best possible image. This can save e-commerce businesses time and money while still ensuring high-quality product photography.

Minimalism

Minimalism is becoming increasingly popular in e-commerce product photography. By using simple backgrounds and clean lines, businesses can create product images that are more visually appealing and easier to understand. Minimalism can also help to reduce distractions and improve focus on the product.

Authenticity and Transparency

Finally, one of the most important trends shaping the future of e-commerce product photography is authenticity and transparency. Customers are increasingly looking for brands that are honest and transparent about their products, and e-commerce businesses that can deliver on these values are likely to be more successful. Authentic product photography that accurately represents a product's features and quality can help build trust with customers and create a loyal following over time.

As technology continues to evolve and customer expectations change, it's essential for businesses to remain adaptable and open to new approaches in e-commerce product photography. By keeping up with the latest trends and incorporating them into their strategy, businesses can stay ahead of the competition and thrive in a rapidly changing landscape.
